Breza: Foundation Launches Preparatory Archaeological Activities

Following the announcement made during the promotion of the book “From Bato to Kulin Ban” in Breza and after several months of preparation, the Foundation “Heritage Watchdogs – Bassania” has begun preparatory archaeological work at a site in Breza.

A team of top archaeologists, equipped with state-of-the-art technology including LiDAR and ground-penetrating radar (GPR), has surveyed the area, and the results of the initial analyses will soon be available.

Although the work was carried out under demanding winter conditions — snow, low temperatures, and overcast weather — all planned tasks were successfully completed. The next phase of the research will soon continue at another important location to complete the overall LiDAR and GPR mapping of the terrain. Based on these findings, a decision will then be made regarding possible archaeological excavations.

Through these activities, the Foundation reaffirms its professional approach to heritage research, laying the groundwork for further development in the protection, promotion, and evaluation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural legacy.

The Foundation invites individuals, companies, and institutions to support its persistent and proven efforts in safeguarding our shared heritage.
