Contract Signed: Foundation Bassania Launches EU-Funded Project for the Protection of Medieval Tombstones in Konjic

The “Heritage Watchdogs – Bassania” Foundation is pleased to announce that on January 26, 2026, it signed a grant agreement with the NGO “Nešto više” as part of the EU-funded project “Protection of Cultural Heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Support of the Civil Society Network – PCH Program.”

The project focuses on marking medieval tombstone (stećak) necropolises with informational panels and directional signs in the Konjic area, specifically in the Glavatičevo and Bjelimići local communities.

The project is financed by the European Union and will be implemented over a 10-month period, beginning on February 1, 2026.

“This is the first project ever awarded to the Bassania Foundation, and it represents a great motivation for us to continue applying for new projects so that we can work more effectively and vigorously toward our goals of protecting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural heritage”, said Emir Medanhodžić, President of the Foundation’s Managing Board.
