EU Project for Marking Necropolises of Medieval Tombstones in Konjic: Signage Installation Underway in MZ Glavatičevo

The Foundation “Heritage Watchdogs – Bassania” informs its members and the general public that the implementation of the project “Marking Necropolises of Medieval Tombstones with Information Boards and Directional Signs in the Konjic Area,” carried out with financial support from the European Union, has reached its final phase.

Within the local community of Glavatičevo, five information boards and ten directional signs have been installed so far, out of a total planned ten information boards and twenty directional signs. In the coming weeks, the remaining work in Glavatičevo is scheduled for completion, after which the installation of an equal number of boards and signs will follow across the area of the local community of Bjelimići.

Fieldwork is being conducted by our long-time collaborator Emin Hebibović and his grandson Davud Hebibović, who are working dedicatedly on the project’s implementation despite extremely high temperatures. We extend our sincere gratitude to them for their effort, responsibility, and commitment.

By installing tourist signage, the necropolises of medieval tombstones in Glavatičevo and Bjelimići will become significantly more accessible to visitors, tourists, and cultural heritage researchers. The project will contribute to a better presentation of this valuable heritage, easier navigation on the ground, and greater visibility of the sites.

At the same time, we believe that the implementation of this project will further stimulate the development of cultural tourism in the Konjic area. The long-term preservation of the installed signage and maintained necropolises will also depend on the support of the local community, which is why we call upon local residents to jointly care for this priceless part of our cultural and historical heritage.
