Gradina, Dolovi – Rudo

The Gradina in the village of Dolovi, Rudo, is an Illyrian and medieval fortress situated on a high hill above the right bank of the Lim River, overlooking the bridge on the Viševski stream.

From this site, there is an exceptional view of the Lim Valley, highlighting its strategic importance.

According to the Archaeological Lexicon, the Dolovi Gradina is mentioned in King Alfonso’s charter of 1444 as Revancha, and in Emperor Frederick III’s charter of 1448 as Rabensky (Revanjski).

Near the Gradina, there is a necropolis with stećci and an old Muslim cemetery. This area lay on an important communication route from Dubrovnik to Istanbul. Since the bridge below the fortress contains a sharp 90-degree curve—an ideal spot for hajduk ambushes on caravans—it is assumed that these graves belong to those who perished at this site.
