The old town of Dobrun is located 15 km from Višegrad, in the direction of Užice, on the ridge of Mount Orlina, above the right bank of the Rzav River.
The fortress had three towers connected by ramparts above the cliffs, while in its center there was a rectangular main tower, located on a 150-metre-high rock. The city also extended to the opposite rock across the Rzav River, thus controlling a key point on the “imperial road”.
Dobrun had a developed suburb and was an important trading centre. It was first mentioned in 1421 as the property of the Pavlović nobility, and later passed into the hands of the Kosača family. The Ottoman Empire captured it in 1469. The Dobrun mosque and the Kruševo Orthodox Monastery (later called Dobrun) were built in the suburb.
Today, the fortress is in ruins, but due to its proximity to the main road and relatively easy access, it has significant tourist potential.
