Taščin Brijeg – Kiseljak

The Taščin Brijeg necropolis in Kiseljak originally had 99 medieval tombstones, according to a list in Šefik Bešlagić’s book from 1971. At that time, he recorded 5 slabs, 6 gabled tombstones and 88 chests.

Unfortunately, due to the construction of local roads and facilities, the necropolis suffered significant destruction and is now divided into several parts with around 60 visible medieval tombstones.

Four medieval tombstones are decorated, with motifs of a swastika, a shield, a cup and a hammer. They were made of poor-quality stone, which additionally caused them to be damaged, moved and sink into the ground.

The monuments were primarily placed in an east-west and north-south direction, but many were displaced from their original positions.
