Unregistered Solitary Medieval Tombstone Šiglice (Avlija) and Solitary Medieval Tombstone Batovo, Čajniče

After visiting the destroyed necropolis in Međurječje, we turned toward the village of Batovo (approximately 5 km along an asphalt road), which contains several exceptionally valuable necropolises and solitary medieval tombstones.

Near a contemporary Muslim cemetery, on a prominent hill, there is an unregistered solitary medieval tombstone in the shape of a large chest. It is oriented in a north-south direction. The tombstone is well-carved and preserved. According to our guide, Muhamed, there was once another smaller medieval tombstone in its immediate vicinity, but we were unable to find it during our visit. It is possible that it has become overgrown in the nearby bushes.

In the village of Batovo, our guide Fadil led us to a solitary medieval tombstone near the Muslim cemetery, which was first recorded by V. Palavestra. However, an error in orientation occurred during the initial recording, as the tombstone is actually oriented in a northwest-southeast direction. Additionally, according to the guide, there was another medieval tombstone at this site which we could not find; it is assumed that over time it sank and became overgrown by the nearby lush vegetation.
