Over the past five years, the “Guardians of Heritage \u2013 Bassania” Foundation has recorded approximately 100 previously unrecorded necropolises of medieval tombstones. It remains a constant challenge for us to document sites that have not been noted in the Archaeological Lexicon of BiH<\/em> or in professional literature in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ba\u0161\u010da necropolis in the village of Zavr\u0161je, which borders the Visoko municipality, is located along a local road. Based on publicly available data, it is unclear why it has remained unrecorded until now. It contains three medieval tombstones: two in the shape of chests and one gabled roof tombstone. They have no decorations. We did not measure their orientation as it appears the tombstones have been moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Luka necropolis is situated on the left bank of the Fojnica River, on land recently purchased by an Arab investor. It is completely overgrown with bushes and branches, while the medieval tombstones are covered in moss and ivy. It consists of four medieval tombstones in the shape of chests, two of which are relatively large. One of them has a pedestal and has been overturned, while the other has slipped down the hill and is in danger of falling into the river. The orientation of the tombstones is northwest\u2013southeast. We appeal to the Regional Museum in Visoko to rehabilitate and protect this necropolis from further decay and from sliding into the Fojnica River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
