The team of the Foundation “Heritage Watchdogs – Bassania” visited the Sokolac area again, where they found a previously unrecorded necropolis at the site of Hanića Han, near the village of Kuti.
A total of 15 marble stones in the shape of gabled tombstones, chests, and slabs, decorated with beautiful spiral and bordering symbols, were recorded on this site. Unfortunately, most of the marble stones are damaged, sunk, and overgrown with bushes. Especially noticeable is a nobleman’s marble stone split in half by an explosive, which is related to legends about the hidden treasure under the marble stone.
Tradition has it that this is a necropolis of the Rančić aristocracy, whereas the necropolis of the Prinčić aristocracy is also situated nearby. Their land was divided by the Marica River, which was the source of conflict over the water sources, as one of the main resources for supplying cattle with water.
This area used to belong to the Pavlović aristocracy, and later on to Kosače, whereas in the Ottoman Period, the Turkish Imperial caravan passed this way toward Srebrenica and Zvornik
