The Foundation “Heritage Watchdogs – Bassania” is organizing a voluntary cleanup action for the Crkvine necropolis of medieval tombstones in the village of Razići, Glavatičevo Local Community. The event will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM.
We invite all members, friends, followers, supporters, and lovers of cultural and historical heritage to join us in this collective effort.
The necropolis with medieval tombstones at the Crkvine site is located in the village of Razići, at an elevation of approximately 400 meters, directly along the right bank of the Neretva River. The site features a total of 104 medieval tombstones, mostly in the form of slabs and chests, as well as the remains of a medieval Bosnian church.
Most of the medieval tombstones are damaged, overturned, or partially sunken into the ground, and their surfaces are overgrown with lichens and moss. The monuments are arranged in rows, oriented in northeast–southwest and northwest–southeast directions. Decorative motifs have been recorded on individual medieval tombstones, among which a crescent moon, a cross, and a figural depiction of a human head are particularly notable.
The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina conducted archaeological excavations at this site in 1956, discovering the foundations of a medieval Bosnian church estimated to have been built in the late 12th or early 13th century.
The Crkvine site was designated as a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2010.
The organizer covers food, drinks, transportation costs, and modest daily allowances for the participants. The action is planned to be completed within the same day.
